Vissan continues to supply pork to Ho Chi Minh City

Vissan confirmed that it will continue to supply pork to the Ho Chi Minh City market after announcing a temporary suspension this morning (July 28) due to a worker infected with COVID-19.

On the afternoon of July 28, Vietnam Livestock Industry Corporation (Vissan) confirmed that it will continue to supply fresh food products to the Ho Chi Minh City market after requesting a temporary suspension of production this morning (July 28) to quarantine and treat F0 and F1 cases.

"Other business activities will be gradually restored after the workforce in quarantine areas are qualified to return to work," Vissan said.

According to Vissan, in the context of the current complicated epidemic, ensuring food supply for people is very important. As one of the businesses participating in market stabilization, Vissan wants to ensure a stable food supply at a stable price to the city's residents.

Therefore, Vissan has officially announced that it will continue to supply pork, so the supply at supermarkets and SatraFoods stores in districts, towns, and Thu Duc City will still ensure enough pork for the people.

Previously, Vissan said that since June 28, it has deployed "3 on-site" to both produce and prevent the epidemic. At the same time, the Company organizes weekly periodic testing and has vaccinated employees against COVID-19.

From July 19 to July 27, the Company conducted 10 rounds of testing for employees, thereby detecting 43 COVID-19 cases (F0 cases), mainly concentrated in the purchasing and supply departments, the department receiving live pigs.

Immediately after detecting the first suspected case, Vissan quickly coordinated with functional units, promptly quarantined the F0s according to regulations; at the same time, screened, organized temporary blockades of areas with suspected cases and implemented regulations according to the instructions of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC). The Company transferred the F1s to a centralized quarantine area in Binh Thanh district.

At a press conference on the COVID-19 situation in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of July 28, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Nguyen Phuong admitted that Vissan's temporary suspension of pork supply affected the distribution process at some supermarkets. However, in addition to Vissan, supermarkets also receive supplies from other units.

"In addition to the supply from Vissan, units also have supplies from other suppliers such as Sagri Company, Anh Hoang Thi... These suppliers are still able to supply additional pork to Ho Chi Minh City," said Mr. Phuong.

During the fourth outbreak, Vissan increased its slaughter capacity to 1,000 - 1,500 pigs/day, accounting for 26.5 - 28.6% of consumption in Ho Chi Minh City. Before stopping production, in addition to 600 Vissan product sales points in Ho Chi Minh City, this company also supplied fresh pork to thousands of sales points in the supermarket systems of Co.opmart, Satra Mart, Satra Foods, Aeonmall, Vinmart, Vinmart+...
