Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, has 1,290 tons of yellow longan with a selling price of VND15,000/kg; 100 tons of cinnamon longan with a selling price of VND8,000/kg; 140 tons of dragon fruit with a selling price of VND10,000/kg waiting to be consumed.

Thousands of tons of fruit are dropping in price, waiting for buyers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On July 22, Mr. Duong Tan Linh, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, said that nearly 1,300 tons of yellow longan of farmers in this district are ready for harvest, "hanging" on the branches, waiting for buyers to pick.
If not picked in time, within 5 to 7 days, the longan will fall off by itself. In Xuyen Moc, there are about 450 hectares of land growing yellow longan. In addition, there are 100 tons of cinnamon longan and 140 tons of dragon fruit also "waiting" for traders to buy.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuyen Moc district, has sent a document to functional agencies, districts, towns, cities and enterprises requesting support and connection to consume the above fruits.
"The complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic have greatly affected the consumption of agricultural and aquatic products of people in the district", Mr. Khanh explained the reason.
According to this document, Xuyen Moc district currently has 1,290 tons of yellow longan with a selling price of 15,000 VND/kg; 100 tons of cinnamon longan with a selling price of 8,000 VND/kg; 140 tons of dragon fruit with a selling price of 10,000 VND/kg waiting to be consumed.
Meanwhile, Mr. Duong Tan Linh said that if the COVID-19 epidemic did not occur, the price of longan sold in the garden would be from 30,000 to 35,000 VND/kg.
