The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said that due to the implementation of social distancing in localities, longan consumption is facing many difficulties. In particular, in the immediate future, in July and August, more than 4,700 tons of longan nationwide are ready for harvest but have not yet been able to connect to large outputs.

Some provinces with large quantities of longan are Hung Yen (50,000-55,000 tons); Son La (98,500 tons); Hai Duong (9,000 - 10,000 tons); Bac Giang (20,000 tons); Hanoi (13,000 tons)…
The output of longan produced in the growing area codes reached 21,989 tons, ensuring standards and quality for exporting longan to markets such as China, Australia, the US and some other markets.
However, according to the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Development, currently, localities are implementing social distancing, so the consumption of longan is facing many difficulties. In particular, in the immediate future, in July and August, there are more than 4,700 tons of longan ready for harvest but currently have not been able to connect to large outputs.
Speaking to Tien Phong, Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in order to remove the outlet for agricultural products at harvest time, especially in the Mekong Delta provinces, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is asking localities to compile statistics and publish specific addresses of places with agricultural products that need to be consumed and businesses and cooperatives that need to buy agricultural products on the media and social networks so that the two sides can connect and consume more easily.
In the face of difficulties in circulation, Mr. Nam said that he is asking localities to create conditions for traders and businesses to come and buy, and that the director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of that province or city must take responsibility for any locality where agricultural products are congested or blocked.
The Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development, the National Agricultural Extension Center (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) requested press and media agencies to step up information and propaganda.
