Is gasoline going to decrease in price?

Data from world gasoline and oil prices and calculations from key enterprises show that gasoline prices may decrease by 40 - 140 VND per liter in the price adjustment period tomorrow, July 27.

Specifically, in the past 15 days, data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that the price of RON 92 gasoline used to blend E5 RON 92 gasoline recorded an average of 83.07 USD/barrel, RON 95 gasoline was 85.16 USD/barrel.

With this price, according to calculations from key enterprises, in the upcoming price adjustment period, gasoline prices may be adjusted down by about 40 VND per liter for RON95 gasoline and 140 VND per liter for RON92 gasoline.

However, gasoline price fluctuations depend on many factors, including the allocation or disbursement of the price stabilization fund for gasoline and oil products. In case the management agency increases the allocation or decreases the disbursement of the price stabilization fund, gasoline prices may remain unchanged.

In the most recent adjustment period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance adjusted the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline by VND850 per liter to a maximum of VND20,610 and increased VND870 per liter of RON 95 gasoline to VND21,780.

Similarly, the prices of oil products also increased sharply, of which kerosene was VND15,500 per liter, an increase of VND450; diesel was VND16,530 per liter, an increase of VND420; and mazut was VND15,670 per kg, an increase of VND230.

The management agency also allocated the price stabilization fund for oil products. Specifically, each liter of diesel is set aside at 200 VND, kerosene at 300 VND, and mazut at 300 VND per kilogram. At the same time, the price stabilization fund is set aside at 1,300 VND per liter for E5 RON 92 gasoline and 350 VND for RON 95.

In the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, at the meeting on price management in the last months of 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to flexibly manage, ensuring that domestic gasoline prices reflect and closely follow the price movements of finished gasoline products in the world.
