Helping farmers participate in e-commerce platforms

The Ministry of Information and Communications has just issued Decision No. 1034/QD-BTTTT approving the Plan to support bringing agricultural production households to e-commerce platforms, promoting the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas.

Supporting agricultural production households, individual business households, cooperatives, and cooperative groups to register to participate in e-commerce platforms to connect, promote, introduce products, add new distribution channels, expand domestic and international markets, and at the same time, supporting agricultural production households to boost the consumption of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms; promoting rapid consumption, contributing to avoiding congestion of agricultural products during peak harvest season, helping people maintain agricultural product prices, avoiding dependence on traders and intermediaries.

In addition, through e-commerce platforms and digital platforms, useful information is provided to agricultural production households such as agricultural product market information, demand and production capacity forecasts, weather information, seasons, varieties, fertilizers, etc. Selecting to put on e-commerce platforms products, raw materials, input materials, agricultural production tools of reputable brands, good quality, suitable prices to introduce and provide to agricultural production households.

By supporting the introduction of agricultural production to e-commerce platforms, it is necessary to guide and train digital skills, skills to participate in activities in the digital environment. At the same time, with the guidance of people, promoting and introducing agricultural products through e-commerce platforms and distribution channels of postal enterprises that own the platforms is necessary, at the same time, expanding the consumption of agricultural products on new, modern and sustainable distribution channels through digital platforms; expanding domestic and international markets.

At the same time, promote the rapid consumption of agricultural products, contributing to avoiding agricultural product congestion during peak harvest season, helping people maintain agricultural product prices, avoiding being forced to lower prices by traders.

Help people in other localities in the country and internationally to buy products conveniently and quickly even in the context of travel restrictions due to the epidemic.

The plan also clearly states support for providing information and input materials for production and business such as: Providing useful information for agricultural production households such as agricultural product market information, forecasting demand and production capacity of agricultural products, weather information, seasons, seeds, fertilizers; providing branded products, raw materials, and input materials, ensuring quality and suitable for the needs of agricultural production households to serve production and business activities.

There are preferential policies for agricultural production households when purchasing products, raw materials, and input materials for production and business on e-commerce platforms.

The Ministry of Information and Communications also requires agencies, news agencies, and foreign channels to promote Vietnamese agricultural products abroad, targeting overseas Vietnamese as well as foreigners, to promote the consumption and export of Vietnamese agricultural products to the world.
