During the days when Hanoi is practicing social distancing to prevent the epidemic, while green vegetables and food prices remain stable, many types of fruit have increased in price.
Recording the market on the morning of July 29 - the fifth day of social distancing in Hanoi - fresh fruits are still abundant on stalls in traditional markets and are very popular. However, many types are clearly more expensive than usual.
Pineapple is one of the fruits with a sudden increase in price. At Nghia Tan market (Cau Giay), a pineapple is sold for 20,000 VND, double or even triple the price compared to before.
A trader at this market said that the increase in pineapple prices is due to limited supply. "Today I only imported more than a dozen fruits, there are no more to sell," said this trader.

At Vinh Ho market (Thinh Quang ward, Dong Da district), the price of pineapple also increased to 15,000 VND/fruit, while yesterday the price was only 8,000 - 10,000 VND/fruit.

In addition to pineapple, the price of oranges is also increasing rapidly.
According to records, the price of oranges at Nam Trung Yen market is 65,000 VND/kg, a sharp increase of 15,000 VND/kg compared to previous days.
Ms. Hoai An, a customer, said: "The price of oranges has increased, they are much more expensive than before, but my whole family has formed the habit of drinking orange juice every day to supplement vitamins, strengthen resistance to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic, so I still buy them".
At Nghia Tan market, many stalls are also bustling to increase the price of oranges. Currently, the price of oranges here is about 55,000 VND/kg, about 5,000 VND/kg more expensive than the previous day.
At Vinh Ho market, oranges and tangerines also increased in price by 5,000 to 10,000 VND/kg.
A fruit vendor at Vinh Ho market said that the price of oranges increased because the market began to be scarce and it was more difficult to import goods.
The price of lemons also increased from 22,000 VND/kg to 25,000 VND/kg. If buying retail, buyers may have to pay a higher price.
Meanwhile, many other fruits remained quite stable in price or only increased slightly compared to before: mangoes at 50,000 VND/kg, plums at 35,000 VND/kg at Nam Trung Yen market.
Peaches remained at 50,000 VND/kg at Nghia Tan market. At Vinh Ho market, cantaloupes were 40,000 VND/kg and honeydew melons remained at 50,000 VND/kg.
