According to the People's Committee of Bac Giang Province, in the context of the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, the province's 2021 lychee crop has "succeeded in hardship.".
The total consumption output of lychee in the province reached over 215,000 tons, an increase of over 50,000 tons compared to the 2020 crop. The total revenue from lychee and ancillary services of Bac Giang province reached over 6,800 billion dong.
The average selling price of Bac Giang lychee for the whole crop is estimated at 19,800 dong/kg; domestic consumption reached over 126,000 tons (accounting for about 58.6%) and exports over 89,000 tons (accounting for 41.4% of total consumption output). Bac Giang lychees are mainly exported to traditional markets such as China and countries and regions such as the EU, the US, Australia, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asian countries, the Middle East, etc.
Bac Giang lychees are highly appreciated for their quality by consumers in demanding markets around the world, such as Japan, the US, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and some EU countries. The export price is stable at a high level, ranging from 30,000 to 55,000 dong/kg; in Japan, France, Germany, the Netherlands, etc., the selling price is very high, from 350,000 to 450,000 dong/kg.
Bac Giang province plans to maintain a stable total lychee growing area in the province in the 2022 crop at about 28,100 hectares; expand the lychee production area according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards; and expand the area of growing codes for the US, Japan, China, etc. markets. In the lychee production areas that have been granted area codes, the province continues to research and replicate the organic lychee production model.
In the 2022 lychee crop, the province will focus on promoting the application of technical advances in lychee care in the direction of "quality is a vital value" and in the direction of high value. Focusing on the domestic consumption market with modern distribution channels and traditional markets with large consumption, Bac Giang continues to maintain the traditional export market of lychee, promoting the gradual increase of export output to the markets of Japan, EU, US, Southeast Asia, Middle East, etc.
