The Australian Government is promoting trade opportunities with Vietnam through the Australia-Vietnam Economic Enhancement Grant (AVEG) pilot program with a total support budget of nearly 2 million USD for local businesses.
According to a VNA correspondent in Sydney, Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said on July 1 that under the AVEG program, the Australian Government will provide 2.5 million AUD (nearly 2 million USD) to fund 28 small-scale projects to create economic opportunities and enhance business cooperation between businesses of the two countries in many fields, from agriculture to education, digital technology to small and medium-sized enterprise supply chains.
The funding includes AUD 99,475 (about USD 78,000) to expand production technology, organic food certification and trade between Vietnam and Australia, AUD 56,160 (USD 45,000) to train 20 female entrepreneurs in Vietnam, and AUD 95,000 (USD 75,000) to help 300 Australian businesses develop and diversify their exports and supply chains to Vietnam.
Mr. Tehan said Australia and Vietnam are working hard to develop the trade relationship between the two countries, with the goal of becoming each other's top 10 trade partners and doubling investment in each country. Strengthening the trade relationship helps create jobs and opportunities in both countries.
According to the Australian Trade Minister, over the past 20 years, the two-way trade relationship between Vietnam and Australia has grown by an average of 8.6% per year.
