786 safe food supply chains have been built

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the Hanoi People's Committee have met to discuss the Program for coordination in developing safe agricultural, forestry and fishery supply chains for the period 2021-2025.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Dang - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that up to now, Hanoi has built and developed 786 safe food supply chains, of which 253 food supply chains have been confirmed according to the criteria of the MARD. Some localities also have strongly growing chains.

Regarding trade promotion and connecting product consumption, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dang informed: "In the past 5 years, the city has organized 20 delegations of management officials, production facilities, and enterprises operating in the agricultural sector of Hanoi to go to provinces and cities to connect trade in 18 provinces and cities nationwide".

In addition, the city also supports and provides accounts to participate in managing and maintaining the management system for the "Hanoi City Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Food Traceability System" with the domain name www.check.hanoi.gov.vn owned by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Up to now, the system has supported instructions and provided administrative account codes for more than 3,000 establishments producing and trading safe agricultural, forestry and fishery products. QR codes have been provided to more than 1,200 enterprises with a total of more than 10,000 managed traceability codes (an increase of 3,000 product codes, an increase of 41% compared to 2019). Of which, more than 1,000 product codes originate from 41 provinces and cities participating in Hanoi's system.

According to the assessment of the Hanoi People's Committee, the creation of safe food products is managed and produced according to a clear, transparent process and widely publicized. From there, consumers are assured of product quality, increasing product value by 15-20% compared to products that have not been produced in a chain and expanding the market, many chains have established a system of agents, distributors, and convenience stores nationwide.

By linking livestock households into organizations such as Livestock - Consumption Association, cooperatives..., the joint purchasing of input services has been successfully organized, reducing some costs of feed, veterinary medicine, and breeding animals. Focus on overcoming shortcomings of the chain links

However, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dang also said that some chain links are still incomplete, small-scale, mainly linked in the form of "willing buyer - willing seller" between producers with businesses and traders consuming products. Any entity that sells at a low price or any enterprise that buys at a higher price than the market will have a breakdown and break the signed contract.

Currently, there are few distribution enterprises, supermarkets, and chain stores that have logistics centers to supply goods to retail outlets. Local goods are mainly fresh, cold-storage, and frozen foods. On the other hand, due to the lack of logistics infrastructure, the problem of distance, unprofessional means of preservation and transportation has a significant impact on the time, cost, and quality of products provided to consumers. Propaganda work on safe products in the chain is also not uniform in localities.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen - Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee said that in the period of 2021 - 2025, Hanoi will review the planning of specialized and concentrated agricultural production areas; promote the registration and management of production area codes.
